Career Events Planning and Publicity Assistant (Grad Hourly)

Type of Position: 20 hours per week, beginning January 1, 2009

Description

The Career Events Planning and Publicity Assistant (Grad Hourly) has specific responsibility for coordinating and planning various career-related events for The Career Center, such as career fairs, informational sessions and guest speakers. In addition the Career Events Planning and Publicity Assistant (Grad Hourly) coordinates the publicity for career events. The graduate hourly will regularly staff a drop-in advising service that provides information on resumes, career exploration, and employment search strategies and assists visitors in the Career Resource Center. (Approximately 4-6 hours per week)

Qualifications

Experience organizing, developing and/or coordinating events. Well developed interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage and plan multiple events and tasks simultaneously. Proficient or working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint. Previous experience with publicity, advertising and creative development preferred.

Compensation

This position is paid hourly, commensurate with educational background and experience.

Eligibility for Tuition Waiver

This position is not eligible for a tuition waiver.

Pre-Professional Graduate Assistant for Career Planning and New Student Programs

Description

The Graduate Assistant has specific responsibility to serve as the coordinator of a drop-in advising service staffed by graduate assistants. In addition the graduate assistant has specific responsibility to coordinate and present career planning workshops and assist with new student programs throughout the academic year. The graduate assistant will regularly staff a drop-in advising service that provides information on resumes, career exploration, and employment search strategies and assists visitors in the Career Resource Center. (Approximately 4-6 hours per week)

Qualifications

Experience developing and/or presenting programs or workshops. Experience providing peer leadership and coordinating programs. Well developed interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of, or experience with, career planning theories, resources and activities is preferred. Ability to use SPSS would be a benefit.

Compensation

The stipend and waiver will be commensurate with current UIUC policies on graduate student stipends and waivers. This position may be funded through the federal work-study program, which is a type of financial aid. The successful candidate is expected to complete a 2008-2009 FAFSA application which may be accessed at www.fafsa.ed.gov to determine eligibility for the federal work-study program.

Pre-Professional Graduate Assistant for Career Services Technologies, Assessment and Evaluation

Description

The Graduate Assistant has specific responsibility to assist The Career Center (TCC) with the use of technologies to enhance service and program delivery; to compile, organize, analyze and report data related to the assessment and evaluation of programs and services provided by The Career Center; and to identify and integrate the theoretical foundations of student/career development and higher education to career services delivery and outcomes measurement. The graduate assistant will regularly staff a drop-in advising service that provides information on resumes, career exploration, and employment search strategies and assists visitors in the Career Resource Center (Approximately 4-6 hours per week).

Specific Duties:

  • Support the use and application of various technologies to provide career-related services and programs to students.
  • Compile, organize, and report data related to satisfaction and outcomes of programs and services provided by The Career Center.
  • Identify benchmark information, theoretical foundations and learning outcomes models useful to TCC evaluation and assessment efforts.
  • Assist with development and implementation of career center assessment plan.
  • Assist with development, use, and analysis of web-based surveys.
  • Collect, analyze, and report office-wide student data including usage, demographic information, service and program evaluation, and relationship to learning outcomes.
