Uncovering Values and Passions

Your values are those activities that have personal importance and significance to you. Work that's in keeping with your values makes your job meaningful. Values are closely associated with your commitment to your work activities and giving you a sense of success. Yet values are frequently overlooked when considering what type of career to pursue. Although values guide our interactions on a daily basis, we are often unaware of what our values are. Bringing them to a conscious level can help us see how they relate to our career decisions.

The idea of passions is closely associated with values. Your passions are what really grab your heart. They are powerful forces that can define your purpose and shape your path. Yet often at an early age children learn to focus on what is expected of them rather than on who they really are. Uncovering your passions can provide keys to satisfaction and fulfillment.
