Drop-In Hours

At our Career Resource Center, drop-ins are intended for short conversations (around ten minutes) which do not require hour-long appointments.

  • Tuesday 1:30-3:00
  • Friday 1:30-3:00

Pre-Health Counselors do occasionally cancel their drop-in hours; please call 333-0395 to find out if they were cancelled.

Pre-Health Individual Advising

Our individual appointments are 45 minute sessions with a pre-health advisor. Our pre-health advisors are knowledgeable about preparation, requirements, resources, and applications to health professional programs. These appointments allow students to ask specific questions and make sure they are "on the right track" towards pursuing their goals. All students pursuing health professions (such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, etc) are welcome to schedule an individual pre-health advising appointment to discuss their progress, concerns, and questions.

Pre-health Group Advising

Group Advising appointments are perfect for First Year and Sophomore students who have never seen a Pre-Health Advisor at The Career Center. We will cover general information including prerequisites, volunteering, clinical experience, research, resources, etc. We'll likely go over typical GPA/MCAT scores, timeline for applying, etc. There will be time for questions and students are welcome to make a follow up individual advising appointment.

Advice On Classes

If you have questions regarding classes, transfer requirements, or similar issues about classes and calculating credit hours, please contact General Academic Advising 333-4710.

Questions about which medical programs require certain classes or about substituting classes, are best answered by the Medical School Admissions Requirements text available to read at the Career Resource Center or to purchase at the Illini Bookstore. The biochem substitution list is available to pick-up at the Career Resource Center (not available online).

We are a department in the Division of Student Affairs on campus. We are one of over twenty Career Services offices on campus.
